Play in the Waves--at Home

Play in the Waves--at Home

[30 Minutes]

Another day of unusually warm weather? Bring out the garden hose for a fun walk through the waves!

You'll need:

• garden hose • water • swimsuits

What to do:

  1. Find a level, grassy area where your child can run safely. Wearing pool shoes or old sneakers can protect tender feet.
  2. Hold a running hose of water allowing the water to zig-zag across the ground.
  3. Invite your child to jump over the waves of water.
  4. Raise the hose, so he can now go under the waves.
  5. The two of you can "beat the heat" with this activity. Splish, splash and just get wet!

Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.

  • How does splashing in the water make you feel?
  • What else can we do with the garden hose?

Useful information:

While you are having fun together, this activity helps your child develop balance and large muscle skills.
