Wash Day

Turn dirty into clean with this watery activity on wash day.

You'll need:

• clothesline • bucket • warm, soapy water • small articles of clothing

What to do:

1. Set up a child-sized clothesline two feet high between two trees or two chairs.
2. Fill a bucket with warm, soapy water.
3. Invite your child to wash the clothes in the bucket. Show her how to wash clothes. Show her how to ring them out.
4. As you help her hang them on the line, sing this song together: (Tune of: "Here We Go 'Round the Mulberry Bush:"

   "This is the way we wash our clothes, wash our clothes, wash our clothes.
   This is the way we wash our clothes, so early in the (time of day)"
