Artistic Ice Crystals

Consider making a school project more realistic. How? Have ice crystals or frost on it!

You'll need:

• Epsom salts • measuring cup • mixing spoon • water • paintbrush • paint or markers • bowl • drawing paper

What to do:

1. First, encourage your child to paint or draw a winter scene or enhance a picture that was made at school.
2. Help him mix a solution of one cup of Epsom salts and 1/2 measuring cup of water. Mix well.
3. Invite him to use the solution to paint over his picture where he wants it to look like ice crystals or frost has formed.
4. Let the picture dry.
5. Show the project to the whole family, and see if they know how your child made the frost!
