Art Treasure Keepers

Art Treasure Keepers

[30 Minutes]

Are you wondering what to do with all your child's art treasures? Together, you can make this storage container to save all those keepsakes.

You'll need:

• oatmeal boxes, potato chip cans, ice cream containers, or orange juice cans • masking tape

What to do:

  1. Start by saving a number of containers from your kitchen. (See above)
  2. Invite your child to lay the containers side by side and help her tape them together.
  3. Ask her to make a second row by stacking them on top of the first row. Again, help her tape them together.
  4. Encourage your child to paint the containers or decorate them with stickers or collage materials.

How to use:

Store your child's artwork, rolled up, in the containers.

Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.

  • What would you like to store in here? Will you have enough room?
  • What are some other household items that we could recycle into art projects? What would you make?

Useful information:

While you are having fun together, this craft activity helps introduce your child to a variety of artistic tools, mediums, and techniques.
