A Game of Memory
[30 Minutes]
Do you think you have a good memory? This is a good way to find out. Playing this game is a little more fun than Blindman’s Bluff, and it is easy to play anywhere, anytime. It will sharpen your observation skills, as you have fun playing with your friends.
You'll need:
a blindfold a timer a paper a pencil
What to do:
- If possible, print out these directions. Read them through with your child before you begin.
- With your child, gather everything you need.
- Take a walk through a familiar room; observe and try to remember all of the objects in the room.
- Determine who will be blindfolded first.
- Determine who will be leader first.
How to play:
- The leader places the blindfold on the first player.
- The leader gently turns this player around a few times, in order to confuse him.
- Choosing an object in the room that might be difficult to recall, the leader escorts the player to that object.
- Once the object has been reached, start the timer.
- The player has unlimited time to guess what the object is, being as specific as possible.
- Stop the timer when the player guesses correctly or gives up.
- Continue taking turns, scoring times as play progresses.
- Everyone should have an equal amount of turns.
- The winner is the player with the lowest tally.
Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.
- How would this game be different if we played in a room entirely unfamiliar to all of us?
- How would this game be different if we played in a room familiar to only one of us?
- What would it be like if we did not take the time to visit the room ahead of time, in order to look around and observe the objects?
