Listen to my Heartbeat

Listen to my Heartbeat

[15 Minutes]

Take time with your child to listen to the most important hearts of all--each other's!

What to do:

  1. Talk with your child about where his heart is and that the heart is a very important part of our body.
  2. Invite him to place his ear on your chest and listen to your heart beat. Ask your child to describe the sounds he hears.
  3. Reverse roles; listen to his heart.
  4. Run quickly and then listen to each other's hearts again. Do they sound different? Are they beating faster or slower?
  5. Now give each other a hug!

Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.

  • Where is your heart? Point to it on your body.
  • Can you hear any other sounds in my body? Listen to my tummy. Let me listen to yours.

Useful information:

While you are having fun, your child is developing science concepts.
