A Valentine Walk to the Florist

A Valentine Walk to the Florist

[30 Minutes]

Visit a flower store together and observe all the colorful flowers and valentine arrangements!

What to do:

  1. Take a walk with your child to the local florist.
  2. Observe all the valentine arrangements inside.
  3. Talk about the colors of the beautiful flowers. Which is your child's favorite?
  4. Smell the flowers. What is your child's favorite smell?
  5. Look at the decorations and other items in this store. Do you see hearts, cupid, arrows, candy, or cards? Show these to your child and explain how these symbols relate to Valentine's Day.
  6. If you ask, the florist may give your child a few broken blossoms that cannot be sold.
  7. Back at home, invite your child to help arrange real or plastic flowers in a vase with you.

Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.

  • Valentine colors are red, pink, and white. Did we see flowers in these colors? What other colors did we see?
  • Where should we put our flower arrangement?
