White Sock Snowballs

White Sock Snowballs

[15 Minutes]

You don't need freezing weather to enjoy throwing "snowballs."

You'll need:

• old white socks • basket

What to do:

  1. Make ball shapes out of old white socks by folding them inside out.
  2. Invite your child to toss the "snowballs" to you or into a basket.
  3. Talk about the sizes and textures of the white balls. What about a real snowball?
  4. Count the "snowballs" or the number of times someone catches one.

Let's Talk: Ideas to Explore Together.

  • How does a white sock look like a snowball? How does it feel (soft or hard)?
  • Where do we find snow? How does snow feel in our hand (cold, wet, soft)?

Useful information:

While you are having fun together, your child is developing eye/hand coordination and math skills.
