Starfish Sand Art




 

Starfish Sand Art

[30 Minutes]

You can wish upon this star to keep your child busy and learning about this interesting sea creature.


You'll need:

• cardboard or manila file folders • sand • dry tempera paint • glue

What to do:

  1. Show your child pictures of starfish. Read about these interesting sea creatures together.
  2. Invite your child to draw several large starfish shapes on the cardboard and cut them out.
  3. Let her spread glue on each cardboard starfish.
  4. Encourage her to sprinkle dry tempera paint into the sand to make colored sand.
  5. Challenge her to sprinkle the starfish with the colored sand in designs or patterns.

How to use:

This craft doubles as a great summer picnic decoration or as table placecards for a cookout!
